Nani Mau Restaurant & Garden
A Bit About the Garden
Located 3 miles from Hilo on the magnificent Big Island of Hawaii, Nani Mau Gardens showcases 10 acres of gorgeous tropical flowers and plants. "Nani Mau" which translates as "forever beautiful" in Hawaiian is a perfect name for this beautiful garden.
Nani Mau was first opened to the public in 1972. Founded Japanese immigrant Makato Nitahara, the property was transformed from a 20 acre papaya patch into a tropical garden. In May 2012, Ms. Helen Koo a Chinese-American tour operator from Los Angeles, California purchased Nani Mau Garden. Her vision was to create a place of peace and harmony for all to enjoy. A place to experience God’s presence.
This gem has become a scenic spot for tourists, family gatherings, celebrations, community events, weddings and all occasions! We strive to amaze and inspire each and every visitor with our unique and carefully crafted landscapes.
